Me: A Selfish Work in Progress - By Andrea Connell
July 17, 2010 - I believe in being the best you can be. But I try anyway. More

Christian Meditation? How to do the Christian Meditation
July 17, 2010 - When you hear people say meditation, there is a great chance that you will often think of Buddhist monks humming with their hands on their large beads. You will also imagine bald people in yellow robes reaching enlightenment. More

Meditation - A Waste of Time?
July 17, 2010 - Many would say yes, meditation takes up too much time!

Time is one of the few commodities we cannot save or store. Everyone is allotted 24 hours in a day and most of us have busy lifestyles with little time to lose. It would appear spending ½ to one hour sitting perfectly still doing nothing might easily fall into the category of a useless activity devouring precious time. More

Spiritual Awakening
July 17, 2010 - Spiritual awakening refers to soul awakening, self-development, and self-transformation, leading to a balanced and integrated life, internal joy and a more fulfilling spiritual life purpose.

Spiritual awakening is a gradual process; it is the unwritten commandment that we are unconsciously following. The only need is to become aware of it and then making little steps toward it consciously. More

Superwoman & The A-ha Moment
July 15, 2010 - “It's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.” This anonymous line from an e-mail packed with insightful gems sums up exactly what I’ve been feeling lately.

Years ago while attending a Pow Wow, I was privileged to sit in an Aboriginal healing circle. As individuals shared their grief for the benefit of healing, although I revealed nothing from my own life, I wept non-stop for over two-hours. When I asked the Shaman leading this circle the reason for my reaction she explained, “You are a channel. It’s a gift from the Great Spirit. You cry the tears others cannot.” More

Christian Meditation? How to do the Christian Meditation

July 17, 2010 - When you hear people say meditation, there is a great chance that you will often think of Buddhist monks humming with their hands on their large beads. You will also imagine bald people in yellow robes reaching enlightenment. You have to consider that meditation isn't only done by bald monks in yellow robes in order to reach enlightenment and know about Buddha's words of wisdom, you have to consider that other religions, such as the Christian religion also practices meditation but in a very different way.

The Christian bible tells Christian followers to think about God's word. You have to consider that what you think about affects the action you take. The mind is a powerful part of your body that can control your mind. So, by thinking about God's words about the great things you have to do in order to benefit other people and help people who can't help themselves, you will be making a good thing on society (humanity).

Meditation has a very different meaning in the Christian religion. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to shave your head and wear yellow robes, lie down on the floor or squat in order to meditate, meditation in the Christian religion means to think. In Christian Meditation (christian meditations), you have to think about the good words that God has commanded people to do. You have to consider that you shouldn't break the commandments and you have to do good to your fellow human beings in order to go to heaven and have eternal life. More

What Is The True Nature of God?

June 20, 2010 - Being religious doesn't necessarily equate to being inflexible.

On the surface, the recent statistics that show more than 70 percent of all people in America are affiliated with some level of religious belief. It would appear that we're a nation of believers, but a deeper look at the numbers demonstrates that people of faith in the United States don't strictly adhere to the dogma of their religions.

According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, 69 percent of people who consider themselves people of faith also believe that there is more than one way to interpret the teachings of their religion.

Alan Richards, author of the new novel The Second Cycle from Emerald Book Company, believes that this phenomenon is directly related to our continuing search for the true nature of God. More

The Message Of Passover And Easter

April 1, 2010 - In ancient China, Emperor Qin desperately sought a way to defeat death. He had elaborate potions concocted on his behalf and launched armies into the sea to search for supposed immortals on far away islands. He ordered half a million conscripts to build him a massive tomb filled with over 7000 life size terra cotta warriors made of baked clay and placed in military rank and file as protection in the afterlife. In the end his efforts to escape the inevitable proved futile.

This week marks the observance of two spiritual milestones on the calendar, Passover and Easter.

Passover is a time of remembrance of the children of Israel's deliverance from their Egyptian slave masters. It was on the eve of their escape that Moses commanded the people to place the blood of a lamb on their doorposts so the angel of death would pass over their house and cause its inhabitants no harm. Something More Powerful Than Me... - by Scott F. Paradis

March 27, 2010 - Observe nature's systems and cycles: harmony and symmetry are features of the natural world. Everything appears to operate in rhythmic, regular cycles. The blooming of flowers, the behavior of cats, the flow of water, the seasons, children at play - all follow describable patterns. We experience and are part of a mutually dependent environment, a system. Order and purpose underlie this system.

Children, and even imaginative adults, occasionally lose themselves in the fantasy of being a superhero, someone with superhuman powers. The superhero possesses the knowledge, the strength, the abilities, and the confidence to do things far beyond the capabilities of ordinary mortals. In our everyday adult lives, though this fantasy remains appealing, we face a different reality. We can't, in fact, control the stars, whip up the wind, nor at times get our car to start. Often the mundane circumstances of life leave us feeling powerless and helpless — hardly a superhero.

Who or what is in charge? Apparently not me!

Great spiritual teachers through the ages point to something more, some ultimate, true reality distinct from mundane existence, a reality beyond what we see, beyond what we can see, a reality that transcends our senses — fulfilling beyond measure. More

The Golden Rule by: Rick Walker

March 10, 2010 - "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you"
Mt 7:12 - NIV

We have all heard the Golden Rule but do we really understand it, particularly with regard to our daily interaction with others?

I have been reading the discussion of "The Golden Rule" as presented in Chapter 16 of Napoleon Hill's "Law of Success" and have had an epiphany! I always took the Golden Rule to suggest that you will receive the same (or similar) response from others in similar fashion to the way you treat them. Treat people nicely and people will treat you nicely (and who doesn't want to be treated nicely?). Treat people poorly and expect to be treated poorly. More

Haitian Voodoo Priest Claims “There Will Be So Many Ghosts”
February 11, 2010 – Respect for the dying goes back further than the human footstep. It’s a process that animals have participated in and humans have long celebrated. In Haiti, however, thousands of lost souls have been denied proper burial via mass graves and this has upset so many in this already ravaged country, where these make-shift mass cemeteries only serve as a reminder of the lost souls flying over it’s destroyed countryside.

Though the country plans to pave over some gravesites in favor group memorials some of the country’s Voodoo priests say this will only serve to worsen an already impossible situation. "There will be so many ghosts,” says voodoo priest Menahem Laurent. Belief in the afterlife is almost overwhelming in Haiti. This is a religious country and there are rules for burial including how and when to pray and how to dress the corpses, of course, this is being ignored as the country tries to ward of disease of possibly up to 200,000 dead after the devastating earthquake of January 12th.
